December 2 - Well drilling is nearly done. This well, nearest the woods, will be the discharge well for the geothermal HVAC system.
December 2 - This shows the conduit going from the garage to the fresh water well.
December 2 - Once these conduits are buried they will look less the mess. Each has a predetermined purpose.
December 2 - Conduits are going to be buried before the foundation is formed and filled. This is where they come up in the garage.
December 2 - There are 7 conduits coming from the house, one going to each of the two wells, one going out for LP gas, one going to the electric service, one going to the phone service and one going out to the generator.

December 4 - We have begun burying conduits for utilities under the house.

December 5 - A path through the woods has been cleared for electric service. The power pole has been set and service will be installed next week.
December 8 - The well pump is being installed today. Here is the aeration device which will decrease the amount of hydrogen sulfide in the water.
December 8 - The first loads of dirt just arrived.
December 8 - Form boards are being installed for the house.
December 8 - Now that the conduits are buried the form boards are being installed.
December 8 - Conduits are buried and the ditches covered over now.
December 8 - This is after the pump, switch and tank were installed.
December 10 - This is the plumbing drain where it exits the house. It has a fill spout attached to fill it for testing.
December 10 - All of these conduits are perfectly inside of interior walls.
December 10 - Pipes for the drains are all stubbed up in the house now.
December 10 - The garage slab and forms are well under way now.
December 11 - Digging of the footers has begun. The slab will be monolithic meaning it will be poured all at once from the footing up.
December 11 - In the middle of the slab there are thickened areas where the walls will be placed.
December 11 - The forming is done on the garage and most of the fill dirt is in now.
December 12 - All of the utilities are in place and the dirt has been tamped for compaction.
December 12 - The garage is all dug out and packed now.
December 12 - The compaction test has been passed and we are ready to install the vapor barrier and reinforcing steel.
December 12 - The underground conduits worked out well and ended up exactly where they needed to be.
December 12 - The footings are deep and clean and ready for reinforcing steel. The dirt piled outside the forms will hold them while the concrete is placed.
December 15 - The foundation is ready for concrete now. Tomorrow the as-built site survey will be completed.
December 15 - The garage slab is also ready for concrete now. Once the as-built site survey is completed and we have approval from the building inspector we will pour concrete!
December 15 - The front porch has been formed as a step down from the house and with a slope to drain.
December 15 - The area formed in the corner is for a dog kennel and it has a drain in the floor.
December 18 - After a 3 hour delay concrete pouring began. In this weather, it's likely the concrete won't set in time to finish it.
December 18 - Most of the house slab is poured now. Accelerator was added to some of the last loads to speed up curing.
December 18 - At 1:00pm the last load of concrete is being placed in the house. It's going to be a late day for the finishers!
December 18 - The wet area on the house did not have accelerator in it and still hasn't set by 5:30pm.
December 18 - By 5:30pm the garage slab is poured and is being finished. The last loads were accelerated to get them to set quicker.
December 19 - The finishers stayed until 8:30pm and returned at 7:30am to finish the concrete. The end result is excellent!
December 19 - The concrete is now scored for construction joints. We placed the joints liberally to control the cracking.
December 19 - The house slab turned out great and all of the construction joints are now in place.
December 19 - The garage slab turned out well and the pipes are all where they need to be. The depression in the background is for the dog kennel.
December 19 - All of the forms have been removed and are ready to be hauled away.
December 19 - Lumber has arrived and is ready for the framers on Monday!
December 29 - Framing has finally started after all of the rain.
December 29 - A few walls were put up but then it rained again late morning.
December 29 - The walls are 11ft tall and the windows are large so the headers are pushed to the top.
December 29 - Because the walls are 11ft all of the studs were custom cut to size.
December 29 - This corner of the house is built to look like a closed in porch. It will be the sun porch.
December 29 - This end of the house is mostly open so only exterior walls are needed. The dropped slab is the front porch.
December 30 - The back walls are up now and the bracing is being installed.

December 31 - The ceiling is in place and ready for rafters.
