September 10 - The interior trim continued today. The exterior door is now completely trimmed and the window to the left only lacks its casing.
September 10 - The windows are time consuming to trim since the wall is so thick. The sill had to be made extra wide and large jamb extensions added.

September 16 - The new screen is very nice because it stops bugs well, but doesn't impede the view. It is fiberglass, however, so it will have to be cleaned periodically to keep it this way.
September 16 - The screen even looks good from the inside and from an angle. The back porch can now be enjoyed, free of bugs, once again.
September 16 - The floor inside received its finish coat today. We couldn't get inside to take photos so this was taken through a window.

September 17 - Here is a photo of the final view of the exterior of the house. The renovation turned out just as we had planned.
September 18 - Baseboard was installed today. We waited to do this until after the floors were finished since there will be no shoe moulding.
September 18 - Since there will be no shoe moulding, we have to be sure that the baseboard is pulled down tightly to the floor so that there is no crack visible.
September 18 - Baseboard is installed in the little closet under the stairs. We will wait on the baseboard in the large closet until after all of the shelving and cabinets are installed.
September 18 - The door to the bath closet is now installed. The boxing for the HVAC return line got in the way of the casing so we had to trim around it.
September 21 - More interior trim was installed today. Here you can see the casing on the pocket door and the bath closet door in the background.
September 21 - The casing is now installed everywhere except the far window. We ran short by one piece and will have that one to install tomorrow.
September 21 - The pocket door is now installed and working well. It's hard to appreciate a good pocket door without actually feeling the way it functions.
September 23 - It was decided after the new screening was up that the old screening should be redone. It was sagging in places and the paint was in poor condition.
September 23 - All of the old screening and lattice strips have been removed and disposed of. Next, we will clean the mildew off of the old framing.
September 23 - Once the mildew is removed, we will add extra supports under the end of each rail to match the new screening that was just completed.

September 23 - A few of the sides of these posts will see paint for the first time. The new screening and lattice will greatly improve its looks.
September 23 - The pocket door will receive door stop moulding around the perimeter of the door for privacy. This will also hide the visible track at the top.
September 23 - The bathroom counter is now installed. It is made of Silestone Quartz and has undermount Kohler sinks.
September 23 - The cabinet and top go very well together. Quartz is the best counter for durability, appearance and cleanliness that is available.
September 24 - The cabinetry materials have now arrived. The built-ins in the closet and entry will begin tomorrow.
September 24 - The bath mirror was installed today. It is very large at 42 inches high by 108 inches wide. It rests on the counter backsplash for support.
September 24 - Today all of the old wood from the old screened porch was washed and the mildew cleaned off. It is now ready to be repainted.
September 24 - We are adding new supports under the bottom rails to make them sturdier, more attractive and match the ones we just finished on the new porch.
September 25 - The rescreening of the old porch continued today. Additional framing was added to reinforce the middle rails and improve the appearance.

September 26 - The cabinet all the way down on the left was built today. It is hanging space for long clothes as well as sweaters.
September 26 - The section on the left will have three hanging rods spaced evenly. The space on the right has a high rod for long clothes.
September 26 - The only problem with the high hanging is that this 5-foot 6-inch girl could barely reach to hang anything on it. A small step stool may be required.
September 28 - Today was spent working on another built-in cabinet in the closet. This is a shelf unit with multiple shoe cubbies on the bottom.
September 28 - The dividers between the cubbies are fixed but the shelves are adjustable. There are enough shelves to have 45 individual cubbies.
September 28 - Here is the stack of shelves for the cubbies. They are cut, sanded and ready for paint.
September 28 - There are only a few more pieces of wood to add around the top and this cabinet will be finished.
September 29 - The painters came today and painted the slats that will go over the screen on the old porch that we are redoing.
September 29 - This cabinet is now completely finished and all of its shelves have been fabricated.
September 29 - This unit was modified today to lower the rod on the right and create a shelf above it.
September 29 - This cabinet is across the room from the shoe cubbies. There will be a low rod on the bottom right and adjustable shelves above and on the left.
September 29 - The panel below this sink was removed for the top to be installed. It was reinstalled today and the drawer pulls were installed as well.

September 30 - The painters began on the inside today. The bath mirror is masked off and the wall around it primed and ready for paint.
September 30 - The HVAC unit was neatly covered to keep paint off of it. This is an extra step that many contractors don't bother doing.
September 30 - The large windows are masked off, puttied and caulked. The baseboard has also been puttied and caulked and is ready for paint.
September 30 - The spot between the windows is where some outlets had to be moved down. The drywall is patched and drying. Interior painting will start tomorrow.
