Meyer Carriage House: March 2013

March 14 - Plumbing (white pipes) and electrical (gray pipes) have been placed below where the slab will be poured.

March 20 - Footers have been dug and steel rebar placed. The slab is thickened in several places for additional strength.

March 20 - The ground is prepped for pouring. Steel is in place. Plastic has been spread below the slab area.

March 25 - The first day of framing was productive. Most of the walls are erected. Heavy beams are over the garage door openings.

March 26 - Although the weather was cold and windy here in the South Carolina Lowcountry, we made progress on the framing. Treated plywood is up in most places. Headers have been installed in most openings. Unfortunately, the second floor trusses are not in yet, so work has slowed as they are the next major part to be installed.

March 29 - The second floor trusses and lumber package arrived Friday by noon. In the afternoon, the second row of plywood was installed. Many of the tie down rods were also epoxied into the foundation. The lower run of plywood looks different because it is treated for rot and termites since it is close to the ground.
