August 2 - Roofing panels are going up on the garage. Flashing is being installed on the main house, garage and guest house.
August 2 - The gravel pad behind the house is complete. We will be installing the doors in the next few days. Once the doors are installed, we will cover the gravel with fill dirt.
August 2 - Wiring (and plumbing and HVAC) work is continuing. It will probably be another week or so for the rough in to be complete. Then we have to wait until we have the roof installed to proceed.
August 7 - Exterior trim is being finished. Siding above the roof is the next push. We want to get that installed and painted before the steel goes on the roof. We don't want exterior trim carpenters or painters walking on the metal roof.
August 7 - The metal supplier rolled one trailer full of steel for the garage and guest house. The main house took 4 loads of steel.
August 7 - HVAC rough in has been completed. Now we are waiting on the roof for inspection. This is the north gallery ceiling. The large opening is an air return. The small one at the far end is a discharge boot.
August 14 - Roof panels are going on. Siding on the front gable is in place and awaiting paint.

August 14 - Painters are priming the siding and trim. There will be a 2x10 between the windows to simulate a column. I directed the trim carpenters to get the 'over the roof' siding and trim finished first, so it can get painted and we can get the roof installed.
August 14 - Originally, the master bedroom had a high window, but it was removed. Now there is just a fake window on the exterior.
August 14 - The lake view of the house shows it coming together. Notice the gable siding. Trim carpenters are working to the left of the great room dormer.
August 14 - Bedrooms 3 and 4 have a coat of primer on their walls. Note the fake windows on bedroom 4. Simulated shutters will be installed in these fake windows like on the guest house.
August 14 - The rear (south) side of the garage has roof panels on it. The garage roof should be completed in a day or two. The 91 temperature with a heat index of 102 (at 2:15 pm) makes it difficult to roof and side. A few days ago, the heat index was 120.
August 20 - The steel door assemblies are being installed. The four rear assemblies were installed today. Painters are working. Roofers are working. Siding carpenters are working.
August 20 - The doors allow an amazing view of the lake behind the home.
August 21 - The standing seam roofing is going on at a fast rate. That is good because there is a lot of it.
August 21 - The garage roof is complete. As soon as the guest house roof is complete, we will proceed with mechanical inspection, insulation and dry wall.
August 21 - The front door turned out to be a real challenge. It is inswing, so it mounts from the inside. With its flanges, it is too large to fit through the opening. The installer (our trim carpenter), built two 'rails' so he could lean the 800 pound door assembly enough to clear the opening. Then he hoisted it up with a 2-in heavy nylon strap and turned it 90 degrees. Lastly, he picked it up with his forklift and slowly (he had about 1-in vertical clearance between the ceiling joists and the floor) pulled it into the opening.
August 21 - The doors allow a very nice view of the lake.

August 23 - More roofing is on. The doors themselves were installed in the door assemblies.
August 24 - The roofers continue to make progress with the roof. It is tedious since many panels have to be cut at an angle.

August 29 - The permanent driveway base is going in. It curves around the drip line of the large oak in the center of the photo. If you look closely, you can see gravel on both sides. of the tree. The rock will go to our fence only at this time. It will provide extra parking for workers.
August 29 - The exteriors are beginning to look more finished from our construction drive.
August 29 - Much of the master end of the home is now roofed. The guest end still needs steel on it. Roofing should be finished in a week or so.
