July 7 - The Electrical code requires outlets along all walls of a certain length. To meed this code along the wall of doors between the Brays Room and the Great Room, floor outlets are placed in appropriate locations.

July 8 - Roofing is proceeding. The roofers say they will be out tomorrow (Saturday) to (maybe) finish up the shingles. The front porch is standing seam as are several other parts in the rear and the Breeze way. They have to be covered still.

July 11 - The Guest House is nearly trimmed. Painting will begin in a few days. A stucco sub was out to quote putting stucco on the foundation.

We also use engineered studs (green arrows) so we don't have to be concerned about any warpage or twisting which might cause the door to bind.
July 19 - The painters are still doing prep work (caulking and puttying nail heads).
July 19 - Air conditioning boots are being installed in the Guest House (against wall).
July 19 - A boot and duct is being run to one of the bedrooms. Much more work should get done tomorrow. The techs did not arrive until late today.

July 25 - The Guest House ceiling has a significant amount of ducting in it to insure good HVAC performance.
July 25 - Wires are being pulled from switches, lights and outlets to the breaker box.

July 25 - Pocket door tracts are all installed now. They are shimmed so they are level. We use commercial grade tracts and rollers to insure easy pocket door operation. That is another automatic upgrade we do on homes we build. Engineered lumber is used for studs because it won't warp or twist as dimensional lumber will occasionally.
July 25 - The gables on the Main House are painted. The walls will be brick. The brickwork will begin in about 3 weeks.
July 25 - It is hot here in the Lowcountry. The soil is sandy, so it does not take long to dry out. We run the sprinklers frequently to help the transplanted trees and shrubs thrive.
July 26 - Blocking is being added to support decorative ceiling beams.

July 26 - It takes a surprisingly large amount of supplies (several vans) to install the air conditioning ducts and units. The Guest House is nearly roughed in and the Main House is well under way.
July 27 - The painters spent the day in prep work: caulking, puttying and sanding. They should be finished painting the Guest House this week.
July 27 - The Guest House rough in wiring is complete. The breaker box is covered to keep the insides clean as work continues. Notice the feed conduit in the bottom.
July 27 - The four large stumps in the front yard are gone and the holes filled. This will give the maximum flexibility laying out the drive and landscaping.

July 28 - The outside of the Brays rooms is painted. Its numerous windows provide a beautiful view. In the next day or two, the exterior painting will be complete. Of course, touch up may be needed once the bricks are laid and other construction work is done.
July 29 - The guest house trim has been sprayed. The siding will be painted this coming week.
July 29 - The windows and doors are masked. The caulking and puttying are finished. The sanding is complete and the trim has been painted.

July 29 - The ceiling in the Master Bedroom has been reframed to hold the automatic window shades. The can lights were also moved to accommodate the shade.
