July 1, am - The laundry room counter top is installed. The laundry sink is sitting in place. It will be installed next Monday.

July 1, am - The granite counter top is installed in the kitchen. The island is not in place yet. It will be installed a week from tomorrow. A week from today, appliances will be installed.
July 1, am - The master bath counter tops and splashes are in place. The top has an integral solid surface sink in it. They will be plumbed in about a week.
July 2, noon - The only remaining siding to be installed is on the north side (back) of the carriage house. Rain made a short day yesterday and prevented work today. As soon as the weather clears the siding will be finished. The siding will also be primed and painted as soon as the weather clears.
July 2, noon - The carriage house has its own phone. The line was hooked to the demarc (the gray box on the left of the electric meter).
July 2, noon - Two workbenches have been built in the garage (one in each auto bay). There is a shallow storage shelf under each bench. The benches have been prepped for painting. The benches and cabinets will be sanded and primed in the next day or two.
July 2, noon - Heavy duty shelves have been built (and are already being used by the painters) in the Storage room. This is where the well tank and water treatment equipment is located. The shelves will be painted with a tough oil based paint in the next few days.
July 2, noon - The floor finishers sanded the oak floors, stair landings and stair treads yesterday (Monday). Today, they stained the wood lightly and applied the first coat of sealer. Tomorrow (Wednesday), the second coat goes on the wood. The final coat will be done after the carriage house is essentially complete (a couple of weeks).
July 10, am - Trim out on the security system is in the works. It is about 90% complete. The C. O. target date is late this week or perhaps early next week. Today is 21 weeks and one day (148 calendar days) since the Building Permit was issued. We began work on the slab 17 weeks and 2 days (121 calendar days) ago.
July 10, am - Electrical trim out is also nearly complete. This is a ceiling fan and light in the west bedroom. The windows have masking on them as exterior painting progresses.
July 10, am - Sconces are up in the master (west) bath. The plumbing is also finished. The carriage house will get a good house cleaning in the next few days.
July 10, am - The shower rods are up as is the other bath hardware (towel rods, rings, robe hooks and toilet paper holders). The door hardware is also nearly complete.
July 10, am - The living area has a ceiling fan. It will have a light kit installed on it soon. The boxes on the wall on the left are for a wall mounted television.
July 10, am - The east bedroom (twin beds) has a very nice looking ceiling fan and light.
July 10, am - The closet shelves are installed and painted. The closet rods are also in place. Some of the painters equipment is (temporarily) stored on the shelf. The interior painting should be complete in a day or so.
July 10, am - The east bath has three bulbs over the (soon to be installed) mirror. Notice the bath hardware. The window is still masked because the bath needs another coat of paint.
July 10, am - The powder bath is moving along nicely. We had to re-center a light, so there is minor sheet rock work and painting needed here. The brushed nickle faucet arrived yesterday and will be installed today if all goes according to plan.
July 10, am - Exterior painting is proceeding nicely. If you look closely, you will see a shovel in front of the garage door. We are working on a lattice work/pergola in front of the garage doors to match the one on the main house.
July 10, am - The rear of the house is also getting painted. The exterior trim and siding is complete. Exterior paint will be complete in the next few days.
July 10, am - Much of the gas installation is complete. Gas runs to the water heater, generator and propane furnace. The final connection still needs to be made to the furnace, generator and tank. The pipe is for a plumbing clean out.
July 10, am - The kitchen is taking shape. The walls need a final coat of paint. Appliances (refrigerator, cook top, microwave/convection oven/hood, disposal and dishwasher) are installed and working. It is a little hard to tell, but the island and counter top material matches. The can lights, under counter lights and chandelier are installed and working.
July 12, am - One of the existing decorative fences was shortened. We put a new post at the termination. A walk to the rear of the carriage house will be to the right of the post.
July 12, am - Most of the exterior painting is finished. Today is rainy, so the painters are finishing up the inside.
July 12, am - The service yard fence is built. The gates will be built when the rain clears.
July 12, am - The water heater is working. Gas is hooked up to the water heater, furnace and generator.
July 12, am - The washer and drier are in place and ready to go.
July 18, pm - The beam work on the front (shown) and rear porches are painted to accent the beams.
July 18, pm - The service yard fence includes access gates for servicing the generator. The service yard entry gate is near the rear door (on the left).
July 18, pm - The kitchen is clean and ready for use. The under counter lights are cool LED lights.
July 18, pm - The powder bath and east bedroom bath have large mirrors installed. The master bath will have a custom decorated mirror. The bath hardware (towel rods, etc) is installed.
July 18, pm - The east bedroom bath is complete (other than some minor paint touch up). The fixtures in the two bedroom baths is chrome. The powder bath has brushed nickel.
July 25, noon - Mahogany shutters are being stained and finished. They will be installed with black stainless steel hardware in a few days.
July 25, noon - We passed final inspection (C.O.) today! It took 136 calendar days from starting the slab to the Final Inspection (C.O.). Landscaping work is being done now.
