June 4, pm - The roof is finished as is the cupola exterior trim. Next is the interior and exterior trim.

June 4, pm - The skirt board is being installed. It is cement board and will have a drip cap installed on top of it.
June 4, pm - Penetrations (condensate drains for the air conditioner in this case) are blocked so siding can be installed neatly around them. This takes a bit of time, but insures no leaks or future problems.
June 6, am - The wood flooring is down. Tile is being installed in the laundry room and foyer. Today, it will also be installed in the upstairs bathrooms. The tile will be finished and grouted by the end of the week. Cabinets will be installed next week. Stairs will be started next week.

Once the interior trim is finished, work will resume on the exterior trim (nearly completed) and siding. The cedar siding is primed on the back, but none is installed yet.
June 6, am - The interior doors are being installed this week. Door trim (casing) is also on this door. The interior trim should be done in a few days. Electrical work (installing switches and outlets, panel boxes, etc. ) will start on Monday.
June 7, am - The entrance foyer is tiled. The door on the right goes into the garage. It is a fire rated door just in case any problem should occur in a vehicle parked in the auto bays. All of the tile has been laid. Both closets (in the laundry room and under the stairs) also have tiled floors.
June 7, am - Tile is down in the two bathrooms. Grouting will be done today. The white pipe on the left side is plumbing for the toilet. The pipes on the right are for the lavatory. After today, tile work should be complete.
June 11, pm - The garage doors are installed.

June 11, pm - The laundry room cabinets are installed. The washer and dryer will be installed below the counter top where the ladder is located. The upper cabinets will have a light under them. The red wire is for the security system. A laundry sink will be installed in the cabinet beneath the window.

A microwave/convection oven/hood will go in the recess over the cook top. The refrigerator will be installed in the cavity on the far left. The center island will have seating on three sides.
June 11, pm - The closet under the stairs and in the laundry room have light switches on the door. When the door is opened, the light will illuminate. The light will also extinguish when the door is closed. This prevents the light being left on inadvertently. All of the electrical fixtures (outlets and switches) are installed. The breaker box is installed.
June 11, pm - Siding is installed on the west end of the carriage house. The two top windows are fake and will be covered with closed shutters. The lower two windows will have operational shutters.
June 14, am - The garage doors were installed a few days ago. The doors match those on the house except they have windows at the top. The doors will be painted to match the house colors.
June 14, am - Closet shelves were installed yesterday. This is the coat closet in the laundry room. It will have a steel closet rod installed once the painting is finished. Closet shelves in the two bedrooms are a bit higher than normal to allow two rods (one over the other) to be installed in the narrow end of the walk in closets.
June 14, am - The cabinet installation is complete. Templates for the counter tops were made yesterday. Interior painting (ceilings, walls and trim) will begin today. A few minor interior trim issues will be finalized today.
June 18, am - The exterior trim is nearly complete. This is the dryer vent.
June 18, am - Interior trim is complete except for the stairs. This is the crown molding in the stairwell. The rectangular opening is the HVAC outlet. The round opening is for a can light.
June 18, am - The attic access door is trimmed. The door is in place. Access will be via a collapsing ladder rather than a 'fold down and hope it does not hit your head' stairway.
June 18, am - The stairway work has begun. The trim boards on either side of the stairs are installed. Next comes the risers, treads and hand rail. Once the stairs are complete, the interior trim will be completed.
June 18, pm - Siding is going up on the front of the house. The painters hope to be finished with the interior painting in about a week. By then, the exterior should be ready for them, if all goes well and the rain holds off. Chance of rain today: 70%, but no rain during working hours.
June 18, pm - This is the drip above the entrance door. Note the crown trim. it matches the house. The siding is white on the bottom edge because the back and bottom have been primed. The siding will be primed on the front side and painted to match the house.

June 19, pm - The stairs are being finished. A few spindles are in place. The stairs should be completed tomorrow. If the electricians get the generator transfer switch installed and a few minor odds and ends done tomorrow, we will be ready for temporary power inspection on Friday.

June 20, pm - The stairs and hand rails are finished. They are masked and being painted. The oak treads and hand rails will be clear finished. Everything else will be painted. Interior painting is proceeding nicely. It should be finished next week.
June 20, pm - Today, the generator was delivered. It is not connected yet. The transfer switch (automatically switches carriage house to generator in case of a power failure) is the middle box on the wall. The left box is for the meter when power is turned on. The house is ready for temporary power inspection. The inspection is scheduled for tomorrow.
June 20, pm - Today, a line was run from the carriage house to the transformer for electrical service. Once we pass the temporary power inspection (scheduled for tomorrow), we will call for electrical power. Once we have that, we will install the HVAC unit.
June 20, pm - Siding work is continuing. The west side is finished. Half of the south side is finished. The eastern side (right side of photo) is over half done. If rain holds off (70% chance today, but no rain during working hours today), we should be ready for the painters to begin painting the exterior when they finish the interior late next week.
June 26, am - Power is on in the carriage house now! The generator will be connected in the next few days. Interior painting should be done by the weekend. It has been 134 calendar days (19 weeks, 1 day) since our building permit was issued. It has been 15 weeks and 2 days since we broke ground (started the slab).
June 26, am - The septic pump is in place and connected to the existing septic tank. The Carriage House will be connected to the septic pump by the plumber when he returns.
June 26, am - Siding is continuing. It is probably about 80% complete. Much of the siding has been prepped for paint, so once the interior paint is complete, the painters will begin the exterior painting.

June 27, noon - The air conditioning outdoor unit is in place and working. This is a cool only unit with propane heat. A fence will be built around the service yard area.
June 27, pm - The siding and exterior trim is complete on the front (south side) of the carriage. All that remains is about half of the north side. Much of the exterior caulking is complete so as soon as the painters finish inside (a day or so), they can move to the outside.
June 27, pm - The upstairs walls are being painted. The ceilings have been painted. Masking is still in place. Interior painting upstairs should be complete tomorrow. Counter tops get installed in three baths, the laundry room & kitchen (less the island). The wood floors get sanded and a first coat of sealer on Monday if all goes according to schedule.
June 27, pm - The downstairs entrance foyer is also painted. Painting has begun in the laundry room also. Once these rooms are done, only the garage and water treatment room will need paint. Both of them will get shelves or workbenches built in them tomorrow. They will be painted early next week while floor finishing is going on upstairs.
