February 1 - The guest house now has hot and cold running water. At the moment, the water heater is fueled by a temporary tank, but will be plumbed to the main tank soon.
February 1 - The mahogany doors are masked and primed on the exterior side.
February 1 - Shoe mould for the guest house has been ripped, sanded and primed. It will get one coat of paint and then installed. After it is installed, it will get a second coat of paint.
February 1 - The chevrons are going up in the foyer. The work is very detailed and tedious.
February 1 - Cabinets have been installed in the niches in the great room. Shelves will fit over the black steel bars on the back wall.
February 1 - The master bedroom beams are installed. The ceiling is being installed now. The first section is finished. Notice the HVAC air intake at the peak of the gable needs to be moved.
February 1 - The closet built ins are being assembled. This is the closet in bedroom suite #3. The hanger rods are not installed yet.
February 1 - The masons are pouring the concrete for the seating area of the patio. The floor of the patio will be slate to match the other porches.
February 6 - The powder bath sink has been installed. It is partially plumbed. The shelf that supports it will be covered with reclaimed wood.
February 6 - The north gallery has a coat closet and two shallow storage closets. These three double doors get installed there.
February 6 - The patio is being prepped for tiling with slate like the porches. The bench has not been stuccoed yet.
February 6 - The kitchen island cabinet is installed.
February 6 - These cabinets are in the back kitchen. The electrical breaker boxes are visible on the far left. This pantry can be closed with double pocket doors.
February 6 - This is a wall of the back kitchen. The refrigerator goes in the large cabinet where the step ladder is residing.
February 6 - The master bedroom beams and ceiling are finished except for an area where the 'hidden' television will be mounted. There will be a removable panel in the ceiling for maintenance work on the television lift mechanism.
February 6 - The faux shutters are being painted black to match the doors and windows. The real shutters will also be painted black.
February 7 - Both barn doors (powder room and laundry room) have been built. They have the same pattern on either side. They will be painted black to match the other doors.
February 7 - Finally, the foyer chevrons are complete. Now the ceiling beams are being built.
February 7 - Slate is being laid on the patio floor. The orange is a material for crack suppression so if (when) the concrete cracks, the tile will not crack.
February 7 - More fill is being added to the rear and north side of the house to minimize puddles near the house.
February 7 - The outside of the patio has been stuccoed (but not painted yet). The inside is now being stuccoed.
February 7 - The master bedroom has a beam running around under the trusses.
February 7 - Shutters are being primed. They will be painted black to match the windows and doors.
February 7 - The faux shutters on the guest house (and many on the main house) have been painted black to match the windows and doors.
February 11 - The three double doors for the coat and storage closets arrived and were installed. They are getting trimmed now.
February 11 - The skirt on the sink in the powder bath is now (approximately) 12in high. The painters will use light stain to make the boards match. The sink is centered although it looks off center in the photo.
February 11 - The chevrons in the foyer are complete. The beams are being trimmed. There will be a chandelier in the center of the room. This is looking towards the rear of the house.
February 11 - This is the foyer looking towards the front door. One of the two diagonal beams in the ceiling has been started. The beam around the perimeter is not trimmed yet.
February 11 - This is the desk area in the master suite. There will be a refrigerator on the left under the desk top. The right will have a 24in wide cabinet with a roll out shelf for a printer. The refrigerator is about 36in wide. That leaves about 30in of knee space in the middle.
February 11 - The two cabinets (one is shown here) in the master bath are installed. A mirror will be installed in the recess above the cabinet.
February 11 - The kitchen cabinets are being finished. The oven will go where the microwave is now. The large opening towards the back is where the refrigerator will be placed. The island cabinets are also installed.
February 11 - The niches in the great room are being trimmed. The ceiling will be paneled. Copper clad shelves will slide over the steel arms on the wall.
February 11 - The tile setters are making good progress on the outdoor patio. They lack a bit to the right of the fire pit and at the far end. Once the tile is down it will be grouted. The bench stucco has a coat on it with one more to go. The tops of the bench will be polished (when weather permits).
February 13 - Shutters are being painted. The group on the left have two coats on the front side. The rear side needs more paint. The group on the left has only primer and one coat so far.
February 13 - The foyer beams are in place and being trimmed. Once the trim is done (probably by the end of the day), the foyer will be finished.
February 13 - The desk area is built. The opening on the left will have a slide out shelf and a door. The area on the right is for a refrigerator.

February 13 - The tile setters are getting close to finished with the tile. They still have a small area around the fire pit. None of the slate on the patio has been grouted yet.
February 13 - The outdoor kitchen stainless cabinets have arrived and are awaiting installation.
February 14 - The shutters are painted except for the 4 large ones on the front porch. Those need another coat of paint.
February 14 - The painters are prepping (filling nail holes, caulking and sanding) on the master end of the house. They are spraying the north end.
February 14 - The tile setters laid brick at the north opening. They ran out of cut bricks, so have to cut more.
February 14 - The patio slate has been finished. It was grouted today. The stucco on the bench has not been painted to match the house stucco yet.
February 14 - The storage closets in the north hallway (behind the double doors) have been shelved.
February 14 - The woodwork in the foyer is complete. A chandelier will be hung in the center.
February 14 - This is the view from the front door. The brick wall on the right side is hidden behind the (dusty) front door.
February 18 - Work on the great room ceiling has begun.
February 18 - The storage closets in the north hallway are being finished. There are two storage closets and a coat closet.
February 18 - The south vestibule has been primed. The painters are working on both the north (guest) and south (master) wings of the home.
February 18 - The master bedroom has been painted. It is dark because the day is overcast and the windows are masked.
February 18 - Work is continuing in her closet. Today, it should be pretty well finished. Shoe cubbies will be built on the left side (out of the photo).
February 20 - This photo is looking up at the ceiling of the south dormer in the great room. The doorway at the bottom on the left goes to the kitchen. The flat ceiling in the dormer is being blocked by the scaffold walk boards.
February 20 - This is the great room ceiling from the side. The flat ceiling boards are visible under the reclaimed beam and above the walk boards.
February 20 - This is the box that will hold the mechanism that hides the television when it is not in use. It mounts high in the ceiling over the west windows. The inside is painted black to reduce glare and make the drop down mechanism less visible.
February 20 - Her closet has a number of shoe cubbies. There are places for boots along the bottom and different heights for shoes. Part of the cubbies are hidden by the carpenter. There are 64 cubbies for shoes.
February 20 - The west wall of her closet has shelves for other items. Hanging rods will go on the right wall (and behind the camera).
February 20 - Work has begun on his closet.
February 22 - The copper clad shelves have arrived. They are temporarily in position. They will be removed when the wall behind them is papered.
February 22 - The trim carpenters are just about finished with the ceiling in the kitchen third of the great room.
February 22 - As they move closer to the center of the room, the workers have to add a third set of scaffolds. The center of the room is about 20 feet off the floor.
February 22 - This dark photo shows the framing for the television recess. The television will drop down in front of the windows when it is viewed and store above the windows when it is not in use. The room is dark because the windows have paper over them for painting.
February 22 - Here is another view of the television mount. The large square opening on the left is for access. It will have a door covering it when the case is trimmed.
February 22 - His closet is being built. There will be shelves and rods for hanging clothes.
February 22 - The planter at the rear of the house is filled with dirt.
February 22 - The south dormer window in the great room is being trimmed. The pipes in the foreground are part of the scaffold.
February 22 - The south 1/3 of the great room ceiling is almost finished. It will be finished by the end of the day today.

February 26 - Carpenters are installing wood on the ceiling of the center third of the great room. The ceiling where they are working is about twenty feet off the floor.
February 26 - The south third of the great room ceiling is finished.
February 26 - His closet has been completed. All of the closets are now finished except for paint and installing the closet rods.
February 26 - Each of the three guest bedrooms gets two queen beds. The platforms for those beds are being built. One is leaning against the wall and one is on the work table. Both are works in progress.
February 28 - Permanent power is coming.
February 28 - The house is energized. No more power pole or temporary power.
