November 1 - The small water table is built on the master suite gable. The rear porch will be built on the right side of the photo.
November 1 - The roof is on and plastic is covering the dormers. The dormer roof will be built as soon as the exposed rafter material arrives.
November 6 - The windows and doors are here. They arrived a few days ago. In a few days, they will be installed.
November 6 - The rear dormer has exposed rafter tails and a roof. The porch roof will be a gable roof on the close side of the chimney and a shed roof between the gable roofs.
November 6 - This is the view of the house as you drive up. The front gable is finished. Front porch columns are in place. The front porch roof framing is being done today.
November 6 - The front porch decking is also in place. The black material between the porch and house is ice and water shield. It prevents any water that might blow in on the porch from reaching the house.
November 7 - The front beam on the front porch is in place. The columns have hold down rods in them for hurricane protection. The green color on the sheathing is a mold and fungus killer as well as a termite protection.
November 7 - Plumbing rough in continues. The red lines are for hot water; the blue, cold.
November 7 - A couple of ceiling beams for the front porch are in place. The porch deck was covered with plywood to protect the deck from the mold and termite spray.
November 9 - The front porch rafters and exposed rafter tails are installed as well as the porch ceiling joists. It will get plywood sheathing soon.
November 12 - The rear deck floor system is in place. Notice where it is framed around the fireplace for the hearth. Work will continue on this today.
November 12 - This is the exercise room upstairs (on the left) and hallway (on the right).
November 12 - The framing is built around the fireplace flue liner. The Ioskern fireplace systems are a zero clearance system so the wood can safely touch the chimney system.
November 12 - The front porch rafters are in place. Rafter tails are also installed and evenly spaced across the front. The columns each have a steel rod inside them for anchoring purposes.
November 14 - Framing has begun on the screened back porch. It will have a gable roof to match the master bedroom and a shed roof between the two gables.
November 14 - The center section is inset a bit between the two gable roofs. This will be a small porch outside the screened porch.
November 14 - Window installation will begin in the next day or two. These two windows (as will all windows) have sill pans in them to keep framing dry during heavy rains.
November 14 - This is attic storage space. Campbell's residence has a significant amount of attic space. Since the roof will be insulated with foam, all of this attic space will essentially be conditioned space.
November 14 - The columns around the perimeter have 1/2 inch steel rods to tie the beams and plates to the foundation for wind resistance. Dozens of these rods are used throughout the house.
November 15 - Work on soffits is beginning today. The weather forecast is 50% chance of rain today, but we will work until/unless the rain forces us to stop.
November 19 - The porch now has ice and water shield on it. The dormer windows are installed.
November 19 - The rear porch roof is being framed. It will have a gable similiar to the master bedroom. A shed roof will be built between the two gable roofs.
November 20 - The permanent garage steps are being built. The garage service yard is under one of the landings on the steps.
November 20 - Framing is continuing on the rear porch roof. The full length rafters are in place.
November 20 - Soffits are being installed under the rakes and eaves. They are made or cement board.
November 21 - The permanent stairs to the garage apartment are being built. They are four feet wide inside the hand rails. The service yard for the garage will be under the intermediate landing.
November 21 - The porch gable roof is framed. The shed roof between the master bedroom and back porch gables is being finished. They will get plywood in a day or two.
November 23 - The rear porch is getting plywood sheathing on the roof. The shed roof between the two gables also has plywood.
November 23 - This is a view out of the rear dormer. You can see the shed roof over the back porch and part of the new gable roof over the rear porch.
November 23 - Air conditioning rough in is continuing. Each floor has an independent system for good temperature control.
November 26 - Roofing shingles were delivered today. Roofing will begin in a few days. Framing is being finished this week.
November 27 - Plywood roof sheathing is being completed on the back porch. It will be finished today. A house plywood nailing inspection is planned for tomorrow.
November 27 - This is the garage as seen from the house dormer. The stairway landings have been completed.
November 28 - The rear porch roof is on, sheathed and covered with ice and water shield.
November 28 - The rear of the house now has two gable roofs and a shed roof between them. A set of steps will be built where the workman is standing.
November 28 - The rear porch will be screened. It also has a fireplace.
November 28 - The Carolina (great) room is large. It is adjacent to the rear porch. It will have a brick faced fireplace in the corner.
