September 3 - The stoop has a brick border to match the front of the garage. The yellow wires are rough in wires for light switches. A gravel walk will extend from the stoop to the bottom and the top of the photo. It will be the width of the stoop (3 feet).
September 4 - The front of the carport. Filler is clearly visible on the nail holes on the garage door trim boards. A stack of shingles is in the foreground on the right. The door door opening is visible in the left auto bay at the rear. Each garage door (and the walk door) will have a sconce installed over them. If you look closely, you can see the blocking and wires.
September 4 - The shingles were delivered about noon. Yesterday afternoon, the roofer got most of the carport roofed. The plan is for him to be finished by Friday. The shingles and brown drip (around the edge of the roof) match (within differences due to fading) the house.
September 4 - The lattice was finished on Saturday. A hose bib is to be installed to the left of the window. Higher to the left of the window will be one of the carport light switches (the other is outside the walk door). An electrical outlet will go under each of the windows on the carport.
September 4 - From this view, you can see where one hose bib will be located (to the left of the window). You can also see the brick border on the stoop. If you look very closely to the right of the brick bordered stoop, you can see the gray electrical entrance. It will be painted trim color. Shingles are stacked on the ground for the roof on this side.
September 4 - Roofing has begun. The carport is roofed and shingles are starting to go up the garage roof. Weather is not looking good for the next few days.
September 4 - The fascia has been painted on the upper roof. The siding is beginning to be painted. Although they are out of the photo, the storage room doors have been replaced with the proper ones.
September 5 - The soffits and fascia are painted the final color. It matches the house. The board on the roof is a toe board for the roofers. Obviously, it will be removed when the roofing is complete.
September 10 - The front of the garage is starting to look finished. The siding has been painted. The fascia and trim are also painted. The water table (short roof over the garage doors) will have a standing seam painted steel roof.
September 10 - The exposed rafter tails and supports are painted dark green to match details on the rear of house. A sconce light will go over each door (note the wire).
September 18 - Sheet rock has been hung. It has been taped and has gotten the first coat of 'mud.'
September 18 - The sheet rock should be finished in the next day or two and interior trim will begin. The exterior is being painted. We lost a couple of paint days outside because of weather.
September 23 - Shelves were installed in the storage room. They are 5' and 7' from the floor. The shelves are 3/4in plywood with notched 2x4 supports for rigidity.
September 23 - The landscaper is digging a trench to reconnect irrigation lines. This area will be graveled in the next few days.
September 23 - The well pipe and wire are buried. The garage water supply is connected.
September 23 - Look closely. A swale was dug and covered with pine straw down to the drain near the lower left of the photo -- just to the right of the palmetto. This will divert rain runoff from the drive.
September 24 - The work bench is finished. Right now, the painters have it covered with plastic. The bench top is 3/4in plywood with a 2x4 support in the front. It is 42in high. The bottom shelf is a 2x12. The bench is 8' long. The white boards on the top of it are for adjustable shelving along the back wall.
September 25 - The dog door is trimmed. There will be a fence around the dog's area. You can see the recess in the floor. The short white pipe under the window is a drain for a future dehumidifier. The blue pipe is for a hose bib.
September 25 - The attic stairs are installed. They are long since the garage has a ten foot high ceiling. The yellow wire to the right of the stairs will be a florescent light over the workbench.
September 25 - This shows the ladder. It opens to the left since the attic light switch is on the left.
September 25 - The dumpster is gone. Things are beginning to get finished.
September 26 - The landscapers are putting French drains under the walkway.
September 26 - The swale on the side of the carport has a French drain beside it.
September 26 - The electrical access panel has been trimmed. It will be painted trim color. Once the garage is wired, this panel will seldom need to be removed.
September 26 - Two loads of gravel are on site for dressing the drive and adding roadways to the garage.
September 26, pm - The landscapers have steel edging and coarse gravel in place. The walkway from the stoop to the driveway is not built yet. The black pipe is for access to the garage water cutoff.
September 26, pm - The gravel and edging makes a nice curve at the storage room on the rear of the garage. The dog door is visible on the right.
September 26, pm - The dog's area has a nice curve around it also. There will be a black chain link fence on the concrete for an outdoor area for the dog.
September 26, pm - The workbench is primed and painted the trim color.
September 30 - The garage lights are working. They have a switch beside the walk door.

September 30 - The attic is large. It will be swept tomorrow while I wait for the plumber.
September 30 - The yard light beside the tree has been moved. The drive to the carport was added.
