September 17 - Tile has been laid in the upstairs shower. It has not been grouted yet.
September 17 - The reclaimed wood flooring meets the hand made bricks just inside the front door. The wood will be sanded and stained uniformly in the next few days.
September 17 - The dog shower in the laundry room has been tiled.
September 17 - This is the master bath floor. The room in the background is a walk in closet.
September 17 - The flooring is not a uniform color yet. It was made from old beams taken from barns and other structures. It will be sanded and stained.
September 19 - Because of the soil conditions, the septic drain field has to be raised. A block wall was built and is to have 100 cubic yards of sand (in the background) placed in it per Health Department rules.
September 19 - First a ramp was built on the outside. Later, the entire outside will have dirt on the side tapered to the ground.
September 19 - Once the ramp was built, sand was dumped into the 'cat box.' It will be spread with a small track vehicle.
September 19 - Tile has been laid in the mud room. The dog shower is on the left. The floor has a drain, but is not sloped.
September 19 - Work has begun covering the structural column and beams as well as the stairs.
September 19 - The master shower is being tiled. The larger tile is on the window wall.
September 20 - The sand in the cat box has been leveled (sort of) with the little skid steer.
September 24 - The sand was smoothed using rakes and shovels. This is about 270,000 pounds (1/4 million) of sand. Next comes gravel.
September 27 - About 5in (15 cubic yards or 40,000 pounds) of gravel has been added and spread. Next comes pipes then another few inches of gravel. Topsoil goes over everything.
September 27 - The stair construction is proceeding. The treads are reclaimed wood and will be stained to match the floor. The risers will be poplar painted the trim color. The newel post will also be stained.
September 27 - Several interior walls will have thin brick on them. This is the same brick as used on the floor except it is cut into thin pieces. The bricks will be grouted. A bar goes under the bricks. Bricks continue on the wall on the right. The mason's guide line is visible.
